- ➤ The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation awarded $20,000 from its president’s discretionary fund to support veterans and first responders with four $5,000 grants. Recipients include the Findlay Fire Department, Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, and the Veterans Services Office. WFIN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Findlay Dining Services announced that on-campus dining locations will go cashless today and accept only credit and debit cards, Derrick Dollars, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Wallet. WFIN
- ➤ Hancock County Naturalists will lead a winter sowing workshop on Thursday, Jan. 8 at Oakwoods Nature Preserve, 1400 Oakwood Ave at 7 p.m., where participants will learn a budget-friendly method for sowing native plant seeds (20 kits available for reservation). WFIN

- ➤ The Ohio Department of Natural Resources advises that live-cut Christmas trees can become wildlife habitat after the holidays if all trimmings are removed. Residents who repurpose trees should place them in designated spots, stacking brush around them to provide food and shelter for local birds, mammals (and fish in lakes). WFIN
