- ➤ Findlay's Night to Shine event will be held Friday, Feb. 13 from 6:00–9:00 PM at the Alumni Memorial Union at the University of Findlay to provide a prom experience for individuals with special needs; organizers still need volunteers to support the occasion. WFIN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ University of Findlay’s Donnell Concert Series will host Broadway and film star Liz Callaway on Sunday, Jan. 25 at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets cost $30 for adults, $27 for seniors, $10 for non-UF students, and are free for UF students, faculty, and staff (registration is online). University of Findlay
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Blanchard Valley Health System launched a five-week Medical Assistant Certification Program for high school graduates and GED holders to fill roles at its clinics. The full-time program runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.+ participants must earn at least 90% on the final exam to transition into a full-time position. WFIN
- ➤ Christine Denecker, Ph.D., has been named vice president of academic affairs at the University of Findlay, effective January 1. She served as interim vice president since August 1 and will focus on expanding dual enrollment and enhancing academic programming for students. University of Findlay

- ➤ The Ohio State Fire Marshal warns Findlay residents to use caution with alternate heating methods as extreme cold returns later this week. Officials advise keeping space heaters three feet from combustibles + testing alarms monthly to reduce winter fire risks. WFIN

- ➤ The Hancock County Parkinson’s Network held its annual meeting on Jan. 12 and approved new board officers including Linda DeArment as President and designated Barb Matheny as Executive Director; nearly $11,000 in grants were awarded to local organizations for Parkinson’s programs. WFIN
