COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today at the Hancock Hotel, over 100 community leaders attended the Friends of Scouting breakfast hosted by Dr. Aaron Doty to raise $58,575 for youth programs run by the Black Swamp Area Council + local officials and Eagle Scout Emerson Wise stressed the event’s role in boosting leadership.  WFIN
  • Blanchard Valley Center will celebrate National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month with Hancock County events this March. The center will feature council and county proclamations on March 3 and 5, Pancake Day at Findlay High School on March 7, and Celebrity Basketball Game on March 31 & share night at Culver’s.  WFIN

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The second cannabis dispensary in Findlay opened today at 2205 Tiffin Avenue — the Curaleaf store follows December’s debut of Trulieve on West Main. City planners approved the two-store plan in June so that adult-use and medical cannabis can be sold.  WFIN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Registration is open for Camp 9-1-1 Interactive Safety Camp designed for Hancock County kindergarteners and led by local first responders. The event will run June 8-12 with both AM & PM sessions available, and spots are limited.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At Tuesday's ADAMHS Board meeting, Jennifer Swartzlander from Bluffton was named interim director and will serve until a permanent successor is hired for Precia Stuby—whose last day is March 6—as the board accepts applications for the role through Feb. 27.  WFIN
  • The City of Findlay honored three public safety professionals in an awards ceremony at Council Chambers in the Municipal Building. Detective Dillon Kliesch was named Officer of the Year 2025, dispatch Sara Douglas earned Civilian Employee of the Year & Firefighter Tim Fritz was named Firefighter of the Year.  WFIN
