COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Last storm season, the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library served as a shelter when tornado warnings sent patrons, staff, and passersby to its lower-level meeting rooms — its front doors and parking garage will remain open during future storms to provide a secure space for all in need.  WFIN
  • United Way of Hancock County will hold its Annual Meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27 at its office at 318 W. Main Cross (second floor). The meeting is open to the public and honors volunteers, donors, and organizations that work to improve lives in Hancock County.  WFIN

CULTURE NEWS

  • Gliding Stars of Findlay is holding its 22nd ice show on Sunday, March 30, 2025 — the event starts at 2:30 p.m. at the Cube (3430 North Main Street) with doors opening at 1:30 p.m.; the adaptive program features a rock music theme and involves 47 skaters and nearly 70 volunteers preparing weekly for the performance.  WFIN

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Homegrown Habitat: How To! returns on April 26 at the University of Findlay’s Alumni Memorial Union for a workshop on native plant gardening led by Courtney Denning and Kara Maynard from Deeply Rooted Landscapes. Registration costs $15 and is due by April 18, and the session will provide practical resources—plant lists, a planning grid, and a guide to local native nurseries for sustainable gardens.  Hometown Stations

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Christina Muryn from Findlay joined 40 U.S. mayors at the 35th Yale Mayors College and CEO Summit in Washington, D.C. where government and business leaders discussed tariffs, cybersecurity, and ways to keep our community safe (topics that could shape local policy).  WFIN
  • Haydee Sadler announced her run for City Council to represent the Sixth Ward — she promises to bring needed change as Rodney Phillips also runs while current member Jim Niemeyer is stepping down. The Primary Election is set for May 6.  WFIN
  • The Ohio Department of Transportation is asking residents to review the draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan for 2026 to 2029 and share their ideas. Written comments must be sent by April 11, 2025 to guide future improvements in transportation.  WFIN
  • The Ohio House is reviewing a bill that would add a $200 fine and four points to your license for going 30 miles per hour over the speed limit (this is on top of the normal speeding fines). Lawmakers are considering the measure as over 27,000 statewide speed-related crashes and around 300 deaths were reported last year.  Hometown Stations
