- ➤ Today the Community Foundation is celebrating Dale Dorney on his birthday because his $2.2 million gift created the foundation and has already awarded over $11 million in grants to improve local lives — a legacy that continues to grow. WFIN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Findlay City Schools Board of Education said that if the May 6 1% earned income tax levy does not pass, the district will consider a second phase of budget cuts to add to the $6 million reduction planned for the 2025-2026 school year. The cuts, set for upcoming fiscal years, could reduce administrative, teaching, and support staff, shorten kindergarten hours, and limit extracurricular services if additional funds are not secured. - ➤ FHCPL announced it mailed 168,421 free books to young children as part of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio reaching over 20 million books delivered statewide — the program lets every family with children under five sign up for free. WFIN
- ➤ Jenna Kline, a computer science PhD candidate from Ohio State, will use AI-driven drone technology to study animal populations at a March 28 presentation at the University of Findlay—doors open at 7:30 a.m. for a breakfast buffet and the talk runs from 7:50 to 9 a.m. in the Winebrenner Building’s TLB Auditorium. - ➤ The Ohio Department of Natural Resources confirmed that 24 white-tailed deer tested positive for chronic wasting disease during the 2024-25 hunting season after testing 5,783 deer. Twenty-three deer came from Allen, Hardin, Marion, and Wyandot counties — and a deer from Morrow County tested positive for the first time. WFIN
