  • On March 21st, Ohio Ag Net's Joe Everett interviewed Dale Ireland of Syngenta, who led discussion on innovative seed treatment options for corn and soy—efforts aimed at protecting crops from Red Crown Rot, a growing concern for local farmers.  WFIN

CRIME NEWS

  • On March 19 at 4:30 a.m., deputies responded to a field argument report on Township Road 122 in Mount Cory and chased an SUV for five miles at speeds over 100 mph that stopped near County Road 139 and Township Road 19, where two people were arrested (Brandon Johns from Belle Center for a warrant) and (Timothy Werling from Lima for an outstanding warrant) after a K‑9 helped locate a fleeing driver.  WFIN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • United Way of Hancock County has selected Findlay High School senior Daniel Jung as this year’s Secor Scholar. He will receive a $2,000 scholarship renewable for four years (a total of $8,000) and plans to pursue a career in medicine (after being chosen from over 40 applicants for his academic record, volunteer work and leadership in school activities).  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Findlay announced it will resurface Broad Avenue from Trenton Avenue to Melrose Avenue, South Blanchard Street from Sixth Street to Bank Street, and East Street from East Lincoln Street to East Lima Street this year (part of its Capital Improvement Plan). Drivers are asked to slow down near work areas and watch for workers.  WFIN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Community members caring for loved ones will learn caregiving tools at a free class at Blanchard Valley Hospital's Aller and Davis meeting rooms on Wednesday, April 23 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.—registration is required as the class is limited to 20 participants. The workshop will cover both physical and emotional challenges, providing strategies and resources to ease caregiving responsibilities.  WFIN
