- ➤ Flag City Honor Flight launches its 2025 season with its first flight using a new airline set to depart April 1 from the main terminal at Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport—reducing travel time for Veterans and guardians. Additional flights are planned for June 3, September 9, and October 14, and the volunteer-led nonprofit is asking community members for help with costs. Hometown Stations
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local voters in Findlay must register by April 7th to vote on important issues and races set for the May 6 primary. The election features contests for Findlay and St. Marys City Council seats and funding proposals from Findlay City Schools and Coldwater School District—early voting runs from April 8th to May 4th. - ➤ State Route 37 between SR 15 and CR 180 will close Monday, March 31 for 45 days as officials widen the roadway, add rumble strips, and replace guardrails. Drivers should follow the detour route (SR 15 to U.S. 68 to I-75 to SR 12 back to SR 37). WFIN
- ➤ The Findlay Fire Department recognized Firefighter Dustin Ruehle’s 30-year service on March 13th as he has served as badge 1 since 2023 and helped launch the cancer-prevention program. The department thanked him for his service+guidance. WFIN
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Since 2012, a partnership of the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy, Findlay Police Department, and Hancock ADAMHS has removed over six tons of unwanted drugs through curbside drop-off events and donation boxes to keep harmful medications out of homes and the environment. A drop-off event will run on April 26, 10:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m. at the Findlay Municipal Building parking lot while a second event is planned for Oct. 25 with extra boxes at key local sites. WFIN
- ➤ HANCO EMS will launch its new field blood transfusion program by early May to help patients suffering from severe blood loss. Director Kent Appelhans said the service—using whole blood transfusions in the field—will save lives by stabilizing trauma patients before they reach a hospital. WFIN
