COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County will repair or replace 25 roofs as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations over the coming months— the nonprofit received a grant for the work and will review applications until May 2.  Hometown Stations

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hancock County Commissioners and the City of Findlay said final flood mitigation projects will break ground later this year—when finished, the projects will lower floodwater by 3ft in a 100-year storm and offer added help in smaller storms.  WFIN
  • The City of Findlay honored 59 employees at a luncheon for their service ending in 2024, recognizing staff from departments like police, fire, and public works — city officials said the event marked a notable appreciation for long-term dedication —.  WFIN
  • The City of Findlay Green Waste Site is open for the season for residents to drop off leaves, brush, limbs and grass clippings at no charge at 330 North Cory Street behind the Public Works building with the entrance near the railroad tracks + the site is open Tuesday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  WFIN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Walker’s Wine Juice recalled its pumpkin wine juice because the product has a high pH that may let a dangerous toxin grow and cause botulism— the recalled juice was sold to wineries in 12 states including Ohio, and buyers are told to call 716—679—1292 for disposal advice.  NBC4
  • Hancock County ADAMHS’ medication collection program—a partnership with the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy and Findlay Police Department—has helped residents safely dispose of over six tons of unwanted medications since 2012. The program will hold a curbside drop-off event on April 26 from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. at the Findlay Municipal Building parking lot, with additional drop boxes at local buildings and pharmacies.  WFIN
