GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Department of Commerce's Division of Unclaimed Funds launched a new online system that lets Ohioans search and track unclaimed funds from sources like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, and bonds. The system also lets business owners file reports directly and will be demonstrated in free webinars on April 9 and April 10—meant to improve transparency in claims processing.  NBC4
  • The Ohio House budget proposal would eliminate the Public Library Fund—vital for Ohio libraries—and cut $100 million in funding over the next two years, leaving the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, which relies on 66% of its revenue from the fund, at risk of underfunding. Library supporters are urged to contact Representative Ty Mathews and House Speaker Matt Huffman to restore full funding.  WFIN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today the FDA announced that T.W. Garner Food Company is recalling six types of Texas Pete sauces after tests found some bottles of Habanero Buffalo Sauce contained undeclared sulfites from Sriracha Sauce that may cause serious allergic reactions in sensitive customers—these products were distributed in Ohio and nine other states between February 5 and March 26. Customers are urged to return the recalled items for a full refund or dispose of them safely.  NBC4
