COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Cory-Rawson Local Schools held its sixth annual CRHS Community Day as students and staff cleaned parks including Mount Cory, Jenera, Rawson village parks, Motter Park and Oakwoods Nature Preserve and assisted residents at Willow Ridge Nursing Home, Serenity Springs and Sunrise of Findlay — funded by a grant from The Findlay Hancock County Community Foundation. High school band students performed for residents at Serenity Springs while other students helped improve school grounds and delivered treats to local police and fire teams — strengthening community ties.  WFIN
  • Habitat for Humanity of Findlay and Hancock County launched its largest building year today as three families began raising the wall for their new homes—these are the first of six planned this year and the third, fourth, and fifth of 20 homes set to be built in the Krystal Ridge Addition neighborhood by the end of 2027.  Hometown Stations

  • Hancock County first responders arrived at a scene where a single car lost control and ended up on train tracks— the driver was taken to a Lima hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Hometown Stations

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • During the 2024-25 hunting season, 24 white-tailed deer out of 5,783 tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease, with 23 taken by hunters in Allen, Hardin, Marion and Wyandot counties and one marking the first case in Morrow County—officials stress that the disease is fatal to deer and urge residents to follow outdoor burning regulations this spring.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • National Work Zone Awareness Week will be observed April 21—25 with the theme 'Respect the Zone So We All Get Home' to urge drivers to use extra caution in highway work zones. The campaign will remind motorists to obey Ohio's Move Over Law — ensuring slowed speeds when passing work areas and extra care on Earth Day, April 22, when highway crews pick up litter.  WFIN
  • Ohio lawmakers have moved several ag bills that will name special farming days, extend healthcare benefits for Ohio Farm Bureau members, set rules for imitation meat and egg products, and allow more homemade food sales. The House passed H.B. 65 (April 2) and the Senate introduced it (April 8).  WFIN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, 26 rural hospitals formed the Ohio High Value Network to strengthen rural healthcare across 37 counties and even one hospital in West Virginia—Cibolo Health will lead operations to share best practices and lower costs while serving over 2.5 million patients.  WFIN
  • Dr. Kose from Blanchard Valley Health System said measles has resurged due to global travel and misinformation, putting our community at risk where vaccination rates are low. He urged residents to get the safe and effective MMR vaccine—helping protect against severe complications like pneumonia and brain swelling.  WFIN
