- ➤ Today, the Community Foundation saluted former Habitat for Humanity director Wendy McCormick for her 20 years of service that improved housing for many families in Hancock County (she begins a new chapter). WFIN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Findlay and The Ohio State University announced today a partnership to support rural veterinary medicine by expanding the Large Animal Rural Veterinary Mentoring Program to prepare UF students for careers in large animal care (including equine medicine) before entering veterinary school. - ➤ Three University of Findlay seniors were honored with the Founders’ Award on April 10 at the Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity awards ceremony. They earned this top award for excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service and received a certificate plus a monetary award. University of Findlay
- ➤ On April 21, Ohio Gov Mike DeWine and Education and Workforce Director Stephen D. Dackin announced that 304 schools earned the Purple Star designation—153 new awardees and 151 renewals as part of the Month of the Military Child. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Ohio Department of Transportation announced that the I-75 southbound exit to U.S. 68/SR 15 and the northbound exit to Lima Avenue will close on Wednesday, April 29 for repairs and maintenance (detour routes are provided). WFIN
- ➤ The City of Findlay, Hancock County commissioners, and the Maumee Watershed Conservancy District received FEMA funding that clears the way for bidding on two flood mitigation projects this summer (Downtown Phase 2 benching and the Eagle Creek Dry Storage Basin) to reduce flood risk. WFIN
