- ➤ Flag City Community VetFest will be held on Saturday, June 14th on Broadway St. in downtown Findlay with food trucks, three bands, and a flag lowering ceremony at 11pm—money raised will benefit Wreaths Across America, veteran housing initiatives, and local food pantries. WFIN
- ➤ United Way of Hancock County is selling $25 tickets for its annual Downtown Chocolate Tour that will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10 — all ticket sales will support the Vulnerable Children Initiative and local youth services. WFIN
- ➤ The Flag City Sluggers need 8 host families as they prepare for the season + families that host a slugger will provide a home for a young athlete chasing his dream. WFIN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Findlay announced its new Oiler Early Advantage program for incoming freshmen in Fall 2025 that will let students take flexible, 100% online courses at a reduced cost—an opportunity to learn essential subjects before starting full-time classes. The program offers courses in English, psychology, philosophy and geology available from June 23—August 3 and includes a free college readiness course. University of Findlay
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ohio voters have less than a week to vote early in person for the May 6 election; early voting hours run from April 28 (7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.), today (7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.), April 30 to May 2 (7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.), May 3 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and May 4 (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.). Mail-in ballots must be requested by today, with ballots postmarked by May 5, and voters must present valid photo ID at the polls. NBC4
- ➤ Findlay City Council has changed two meeting dates due to election events — the May meeting is now scheduled for Wednesday, May 7 instead of Tuesday, May 6, and the November meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 5 instead of Tuesday, November 4. Both meetings will be held at 6 p.m. in council chambers on the first floor of the municipal building. WFIN
