- ➤ United Way of Hancock County is hosting its Downtown Chocolate Tour fundraiser (tickets $25) on Saturday, May 9. The self-guided tour visits local businesses offering sweet treats to support the Vulnerable Children Initiative; tickets are available for pickup May 7-8 at the United Way office or Hancock Hotel. - ➤ The City of Findlay invites local youth in elementary, middle, and high school to submit original artwork for a banner design competition celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the United States (winning designs will be featured downtown). Twenty-two winners will be selected, and entries must meet the specified digital or physical format guidelines. WFIN
- ➤ City Mission’s 4th Annual Brake the Cycle of Homelessness Tour will be held on May 16 in Findlay — the event aims to raise awareness and support local efforts to end homelessness by counting each mile ridden. WFIN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Fifteen local nonprofit leaders received a Certificate in Fund Raising Management through a two year program hosted by the Community Foundation and offered through Indiana University's Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. Supported by ($99K) in grants, the program boosted local fundraising continuity in our community. WFIN
- ➤ Van Buren Local Schools runs the VB ROX! program for girls’ education, safety, and empowerment; expanded in 2022 to include 6th and 7th graders meeting weekly for 20 sessions (with eight participants per group) and fully funded by grants. WFIN
