  • The Hancock County Veterans Service Office is seeking sponsors, donors, and volunteers for Flag City Community Vet Fest on Saturday, June 14 on Broadway St. in downtown Findlay—this music festival will feature local bands, food trucks, and a flag lowering ceremony while raising funds for veteran programs.  WFIN
  • At its annual meeting, Handbags That Help awarded $42,500 to four area nonprofits, with City Mission of Findlay receiving $17,000 to build a playground at Martha’s Home. Cancer Patient Services of Hancock County, Welcome to a New Life, and Owens Community College Foundation also received grants to support nutrition, clothing, and creative learning programs.  WFIN

  • Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn launched the 2025 DoorDash Accelerator for Local Businesses at the Findlay-Hancock Chamber of Commerce today — a 12-week program that will offer mentorship, grants and support to ten small business owners from Findlay and Hancock County and run through July.  WFIN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Findlay Area Pharmacists Association donated $6,000 in memory of founding dean Dr. Donald Stansloski—who died on March 7th—to fund renovations of the pharmacy skills lab at the College of Pharmacy.  WFIN
  • Paige Ouwenga was named the 2025 recipient of the Richard E. Dick Daugherty Scholarship from the Findlay Rotary Club. The Findlay High School graduate (daughter of Karen Ouwenga) will attend Kent State University in the fall to study Communications/Broadcasting after earning recognition on the Distinguished Honor Roll and participating in choir, bowling, gymnastics, and volunteer work with the Miracle League.  WFIN
