- ➤ The Hancock County Veterans Service Office is seeking corporate sponsors, donors and volunteers for Flag City Community Vet Fest, a music festival on Saturday, June 14th on Broadway St. in downtown Findlay that will feature three bands, food trucks and a flag lowering ceremony with funds benefiting veteran housing, Wreaths Across America and local food pantries (contact Ed Newton at 419-424-7036 or hancockveterans.com for details). The event will also mark Flag Day and the Army’s 250th birthday while honoring veteran owned businesses and friendly employers. WFIN

- ➤ On May 20th, at around 1:18 a.m., Findlay police responded to a domestic disturbance at 1245 Crystal Glen Blvd. Apt. C where officers found a bleeding female and a male, Savas Rivas Jr. (56), who threatened gas lines and caused residents to be evacuated before he surrendered and was taken into custody. WFIN

- ➤ Two visual arts projects in Findlay have been awarded the Marianna Hofer Endowment Grant to boost artistic growth and connect the community. Local nonprofit Awakening Minds Art will host Cops and Kids Get Creative at Fort Findlay FOP Lodge over four sessions while visual artist Cindy Meadows starts a self-paced course at Watercolor Academy to improve her teaching skills. - ➤ The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is planning an art-themed SummerREAD for next summer — the new theme comes after a 2024 event with 1,436 participants and nearly 12,000 books read — to help kids keep reading throughout the break. WFIN

- ➤ Officials warned that drivers will face heavy traffic this Memorial Day weekend as millions are expected to travel and extra highway patrols will be on duty.
