- ➤ At its meeting on May 21, the Findlay Rotary Club awarded $50,000 in grants to five local nonprofits including Findlay Digital Academy + Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County, City Mission of Findlay, Findlay Hope House for the Homeless and FOCUS. The club established its Forward Fund in 1991 to provide long-term support for local organizations. WFIN

- ➤ University of Findlay announced its Spring 2025 Dean’s List on May 23 — this honor recognizes full- and part-time students who earned a 4.0 or 3.5 GPA. Congratulations were extended to the Oilers as they celebrate this academic achievement. University of Findlay
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Mike DeWine ordered all U.S. and state flags in Ohio to be lowered to half staff on Monday for Memorial Day—flags will be lowered from 12:01 a.m. until noon on all public buildings and grounds. He had also ordered half staff on May 15 for peace officer memorial day and on May 4 for the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. NBC4
- ➤ State leaders are debating whether to make it harder to amend the Ohio Constitution after the 2023 vote kept a simple majority for change. House Speaker Matt Huffman (R-Lima) supports raising the threshold while Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) warned the change would burden voters. NBC4
- ➤ Sheriff Cortez held an award ceremony to honor team members for their dedication and professionalism during high-pressure situations—recognizing communications officers for guiding emergency calls, a detective for leading a multi-county investigation, and corrections officers for completing peace officer training; the event celebrated vital efforts in handling critical incidents.
