- ➤ Ottawa Metro Park in Lima now offers kayak rentals for summer visitors; the service costs $15 for the first hour and $10 for each additional hour (provided by Shack’s Yaks from Alexandria, Kentucky) and is managed by Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Parks. Hometown Stations
- ➤ The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation awarded $444,349.39 in grants at its May board meeting to support free community events and local projects. The board approved 14 responsive grants (including $18,000 for seniors programming from 50 North) and 71 donor advised fund grants. WFIN

- ➤ The Hancock County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy invites residents to explore law enforcement with hands-on experiences starting Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the Justice Center, with classes held on Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. for nine weeks. WFIN

- ➤ Shuffleboard players from across Ohio are competing in Bluffton this week as part of the Ohio Shuffleboard Association’s summer tournament stops — the event uses eight courts statewide and open doubles play begins today with prize money on the line. Hometown Stations
