COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Findlay City Schools will host Hancock County’s Summer Lunch Program from June 9 to July 31 at Glenwood Middle School — 1715 North Main Street — where free lunches and fun activities will be provided for anyone under 18 while adult meals cost $4.25. The program runs Mondays through Thursdays with a meal to take home on Friday.  WFIN
  • Sam, a 14-year-old dog, was given up when his longtime owner moved into a care facility. He stole the show at Wet Nose Wednesday—leading a loving family to adopt him—and now lives safely in his new home.  WFIN
  • Flag City Honor Flight will launch its second mission on June 3 to honor Vietnam Veterans and a few Korean War Veterans — the public in Findlay is invited to welcome them at Grand Aire Hangar as doors open at 6:00 p.m. Two additional flights are scheduled for September 9 and October 14 to extend the honor for eligible veterans.  Hometown Stations

  • Soybean stands across Ohio have varied with some mid-April fields showing strong growth and others facing emergence issues due to heavy rain—Dr. Horacio Lopez-Nicora and field experts recommended growers check for disease pressure and plan proper seed treatment options. The planting season is not over as farmers prepare to address these challenges.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Mike DeWine announced that Ohio will observe a two-week Sales Tax Holiday—set to run from 12:00 a.m. on August 1 to 11:59 p.m. on August 14—to help families save money on qualifying in-store and online purchases. The state tax break does not cover services or items such as motor vehicles, watercraft, alcohol, tobacco, vapor products, or any item containing marijuana.  Hometown Stations

  • Blanchard Valley Health System announced today it will offer radiofrequency ablation for spine tumors—led by neurosurgeon John Ogden from Neurosurgical Associates of Northwest Ohio. The outpatient procedure will reduce recovery time and complications for patients.  WBVI
