COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Registration is open for Findlay’s annual Fourth of July Parade on July 4th at 11 a.m. and the parade will begin at South Main and Lima, travel on Main Street, and end at the Hancock County War Memorial. Participants including businesses, community groups, military personnel and a bike parade for children must register by July 1—paper forms can be dropped off at The Alliance.  Hometown Stations

CULTURE NEWS

  • Awakening Minds Art has launched The Forever Fund endowment at the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation to secure funding for its inclusive art programs and is holding a summer campaign with a goal of raising $10,000. Donors giving $25 or more will receive recognition—top-tier donors will have their names on a permanent plaque at the organization’s headquarters.  WFIN
  • The Hancock Historical Museum — located at 422 West Sandusky Street — invites residents to attend a Brown Bag Lecture titled 'Frenemies: A History of U.S.-China Relations from Nixon to Now' presented by Eastman & Smith LTD tomorrow at 12 p.m. Melvin Barnes will explain how similarities between the US and China spurred rivalry during a 45- to 60-minute lecture with a $3 fee for non-members.  WFIN

  • Beck’s Agronomist Mike Hannewald explained that applying Nitrogen at the V3 stage of corn can yield a four-bushel advantage over waiting until V6—his video covers key timing and rate factors as growers in Ohio plan for the season.  WFIN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The WorkAdvance Training Program in Hancock County celebrated its latest graduating class as all five participants completed all 27 training modules—far exceeding the required 13—making them eligible to take the Certified Manufacturing Associate exam. Program officials said the nationally recognized credential will help open doors to quality manufacturing careers.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, June 3, Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn updated the Parks & Recreation Board on proposed improvements for a 19-acre downtown recreation area that floods a few days each year. The project includes multiuse paths, a playground, and a pedestrian suspension bridge (estimated to cost between $7.3 million and $7.8 million) with design work set for City Council review and construction planned to begin in 2027.  Hometown Stations
  • Hancock County Commissioners are launching a community outreach program (Town & Country Tuesdays) this summer to meet with residents one-on-one at local eateries and parks in Findlay and Hancock County. The schedule lists meetings for June 10th, 17th and 24th with times and locations available on the commissioners’ website.  WFIN
