- ➤ Registration for Findlay’s Independence Day Parade is now open — the free event will be held on July 4 at 11 a.m., starting at South Main and Lima, traveling north on Main Street through Downtown, and ending at the Hancock County War Memorial. WFIN
- ➤ The Findlay Fire Department is offering free smoke detector installation by asking residents to call 419-424-7814; Fire Inspector Eric Wilkins reminds everyone that smoke detectors last 10 years so checking the manufacture date is important. WFIN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ WFIN invites residents to attend the Riverside Civic Concert Series at the Allen P. Dudley Memorial Band Shell in Riverside Park—sponsored by Provision Living Senior Living Community and presented by the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts. The concerts will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays starting June 11. WFIN

- ➤ Findlay City Schools is hosting Hancock County’s Summer Lunch Program from June 9 to July 31 at Glenwood Middle School, offering free lunches for those under 18 on Mondays–Thursdays from 11:30-12:30 with a take-home meal on Fridays. The program will include daily activities + adult meals are available for $4.25. WFIN
- ➤ The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library has launched its SummerREAD Program themed Color Our World to invite readers of all ages to join free activities that offer gift books and prizes by tracking reading progress online plus enjoy special events like the kickoff party on June 7 at the Arlington Branch. - ➤ Hancock County Commissioners launched Town and Country Tuesdays this summer to meet residents at local eateries and parks in Findlay. The schedule from June 3rd to June 24th — featuring stops like The Dark Horse and City BBQ — offers residents a chance for informal one-on-one meetings with commissioners. WFIN
- ➤ On June 5, Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Tressel and Development Director Mihalik announced nearly $60 million in grants to clean up 51 hazardous sites in 27 counties including $175,000 for asbestos cleanup at Riverfront One in Lima and $1,075,165 to remove toxins from a former nursing home in Auglaize County. The state’s plan — which will ready sites for new homes and shops — is expected to add up to 97 full-time jobs. Hometown Stations

- ➤ Ohio’s Department of Natural Resources announced that free fishing days will be held on June 14 and June 15 and allow residents aged 16 and older to fish in any public waterway without a license (those under 16 can fish free year round while other rules still apply). Hometown Stations

- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County will finish construction of three new homes during a dedication ceremony on Tuesday, June 10 at 4:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Bishop Lane. New homeowners will cut ribbons and tour their houses (the first three of six planned for 2025) as the nonprofit works to ease the affordable housing shortage in the community. WFIN
