- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of Findlay-Hancock County completed construction on three new homes this evening for three local families after 10 weeks of building—its first complete home project in 25 years. The nonprofit plans to build six homes this year—providing more safe housing for families in need. Hometown Stations
- ➤ The inaugural Flag City Community VetFest will take place Saturday, June 14 on Broadway St in downtown Findlay. The event will open at 3pm on Flag Day and the Armys 250th birthday, feature music starting at 4pm and food trucks, and raise funds for Wreaths Across America, veteran housing initiatives and local food pantries. - ➤ Spectrum announced today that the Marathon Center for Performing Arts in Findlay will receive $10,000 from the 2024-25 Stand for the Arts Awards in partnership with Ovation TV—the award will support the center's programmatic and artistic efforts along with local arts and educational programs. - ➤ The Hancock County Summer Lunch Program is offering free lunches and daily activities for children under 18 at Glenwood Middle School (1715 North Main Street) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Monday to Thursday between June 9 and July 31; adult meals are available for $4.25. WFIN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today at 8 a.m., S. Cory St. between W. Crawford and W. Main Cross will be closed for 90 days along with the alley behind the Post Office between S. West and S. Cory. The closure is for the safety of pedestrians and workers at new city buildings (judicial center, police, sheriff’s office, and municipal building) and will force eastbound alley traffic to turn south onto W. Crawford (the bike lane remains open). WFIN
- ➤ Since June 10, First Street from Main Street to Maple Avenue in Findlay has been closed for sewer repair in the 200 block of First Street. The repair is being done by a private contractor and the closure will continue through June 14 + residents in the unaffected area will still be able to access their property. WFIN
