- ➤ Spectrum announced on June 10 that Marathon Center for Performing Arts in Findlay received a $10,000 award from Ovation TV’s Stand For The Arts Awards to support its art education and free community outreach programs—At its Mainstage Series Season Reveal Party, Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn joined Spectrum and Ovation TV to congratulate the organization. - ➤ The Marathon Center for the Performing Arts announced its Mainstage Series season lineup for its 10th anniversary, featuring The Book of Mormon on September 25 and Straight No Chaser on October 17, with additional shows scheduled through next year—membership presale runs until June 13 at 11 a.m. before the public sale begins. - ➤ Ohio senators have proposed a change to the Governor’s Merit Scholarship that will require students to sign a promissory note and live in Ohio for three years after graduation if they move out, starting in 2027—this modification also limits the award to only the top 2% of students for the 2025 to 2026 school year instead of the top 5%. - ➤ The Flame of Hope passed through Findlay on Wednesday as part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics—its route on Main Street marked a key moment before the torch continues to Columbus where 35 Hancock County athletes will compete in events at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium tomorrow. - ➤ On Wednesday, officers from Findlay Police and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office carried the torch from the University of Findlay to the Hancock County Courthouse, where Special Olympics athletes joined for the final stretch to St. Marks United Methodist Church. Hancock County will have 33 athletes competing in track and field, powerlifting, and bocce at the Ohio Special Olympics Summer Games at Ohio State University in Columbus. WFIN
