COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents are invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new UF pickleball courts tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at 201 College Street in front of the College of Business/Center for Student Life building; the courts were made possible by a donation from Eric and Julie Anderson and a pavilion funded by the Findlay Hancock County Community Foundation.  WFIN

CRIME NEWS

  • Findlay police said that Rachel Core (30) was hit by a car while crossing East Melrose Avenue and North Blanchard Street at 3:11 p.m. on Tuesday and taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver, Tamara Pryor (24), was cited for failing to yield the right of way.  WFIN
  • A federal grand jury indicted a New York man and a Chinese national on 10 counts after they used tech support and grandparent scams to take over $201,000 from elderly victims in Northeast Ohio in May and June 2024+ federal investigators led the probe.  Hometown Stations

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Owens Community College runs apiaries on its Toledo and Findlay campuses to help protect honeybees and support local food programs—small amounts of honey are sold for $10 per pint to benefit the Garden Harvest food pantry. Director Krista Kiessling said students learn about bee behavior and the effects of poor land management and pesticide use as she checks the hives weekly based on weather.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ODOT has announced that CR 99 will be closed nightly from June 18–21 for bridge deck demolition between 11 PM–5 AM, with northbound I-75 traffic following a detour via U.S. 224, Bright Rd, SR 12, CR 236 and CR 212. Work will switch to the southbound side from June 23–26, and detour routes will be updated accordingly.  WFIN

  • Blanchard Valley Orthopedics & Sports Medicine now offers the 'Own the Bone' program at four locations including Findlay to help patients who have suffered fragility fractures improve their bone health. The initiative provides examinations, tailored lifestyle and medication guidance, and regular follow-up — all aimed at reducing the risk of future fractures.  WFIN
