  • The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation introduced its Rooted to Rise initiative on June 18 at its Annual Celebration — a campaign designed to support work and play by linking donor funds with community needs like childcare, housing, transportation, arts and recreation.  WFIN
  • Blanchard Valley Center has opened nominations for the 2025 BVC Effect Awards—this program honors employers, organizations, or businesses in Hancock County that create opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. An example from 2024 praised Jennifer Little from OSU Extension for her work in planning cooking classes, and nominations are now being accepted.  WFIN

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A chain reaction crash involving eight vehicles injured three people Thursday morning on Interstate 75 near State Route 103—when a semi driven by Barinder Sarao struck slow traffic, crossed the median, and shut down all lanes.  WFIN

  • Local food truck L’Eggo My Eggroll is being sued by Kellogg because it did not stop using their mark as the company now seeks all profits and legal fees. The truck said on Facebook it will keep working until its lawyer resolves the case — the legal dispute is ongoing.  WFIN

CRIME NEWS

  • A Hancock County man, Jase Lauck, 24, was arrested on June 26th after deputies found a woman hiding in a crawl space at a home on County Road 8—he faces charges of domestic violence by strangulation, kidnapping, and obstructing official business while another man, Chase Craig, was arrested for obstructing official business.  Hometown Stations

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will host a free two-day hunter education instructor class in Findlay on August 9-10 at the Division of Wildlife District 2 Office (952 Lima Avenue) that requires participants to complete the online hunter education course, be at least 18 years old, and pass a background check before the training begins.  Hometown Stations
  • The Ohio Department of Transportation said drivers have seen more tire damage from nails near construction zones this summer—AAA Ohio noted that hundreds of damage reports have been filed and drivers on interstates can file claims with ODOT.  WFIN
