EDUCATION NEWS

  • Columbian High School teacher Christopher Monsour was named District 1 Teacher of the Year by the Ohio Department of Education—he will compete with 11 other teachers to become one of four advancing for Ohio Teacher of the Year next year.  WBVI
  • Chris Monsour of Tiffin City Schools—named District 1 Teacher of the Year by the Ohio State Board of Education—was chosen from a group of 11 outstanding educators, and four teachers will be finalists for the state Teacher of the Year honor in 2026.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials released a video rendering that explains plans for the Downtown Recreation area—covering planning and environmental remediation—and invited residents to visit the information hub to learn more and give feedback.  WFIN
  • The Findlay Fire Department has been holding live burn training this week at the STRICT Center (Simulated Tactical Response and Incident Command Training) at Fire Station #4. Firefighters practice important fire-fighting skills in a controlled burn building to prepare for emergencies.  WFIN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hancock Public Health hosted a free Car Seat Check Event on July 10 with a morning session from 9:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m. and an afternoon session from 3:00 p.m.—5:00 p.m.; future events are planned for September 11 and November 13.  WFIN
  • Wellness Park Primary Care — a division of Blanchard Valley Health System — has dedicated providers including Angela Harden-Mack, Amy Donnelly, Lindsay Hartman, and new board-certified pediatrician Ailing Chen; the center offers same-week appointments, onsite imaging, and lab services for families.  WFIN
