CRIME NEWS
- ➤ James P. Jackson, a 39-year-old from Niles, pleaded guilty on July 15th to accepting a $1,000 bribe to smuggle illegal drugs and a phone into Trumbull Correctional Institution—he used his job to access restricted areas and now faces up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $250,000 while sentencing is pending. - ➤ Ohio’s Department of Natural Resources confirmed 964 active bald eagle nests in 87 counties—gathering more than 1,800 reports from citizen scientists—which marks a 36% increase from 2020’s 707 nests. - ➤ Findlay City Council approved contracts for design and engineering services for the Downtown Recreation Area project today (a $2.5 million deal for park features and a $1.5 million deal for the pedestrian bridge) with an 8-2 vote.
