EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library will host a free Teen Program: School Supply Swap on Saturday, August 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Lindamood and Blanchard Rooms for students in grades 6 to 12. Donations will be accepted in the Youth Services Department from July 28 to 31 — from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  WFIN
  • Chase Otto, a computer science student at the University of Findlay, won the national championship in Microsoft Excel on June 18 in Grapevine, Texas — earning him $3,000, a trophy and an invitation to the world championship. He will compete in Orlando from July 27 to 30 to represent Ohio on the international stage.  University of Findlay

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting January next year, the local BMV will charge higher fees for driver's licenses, vehicle tags, and titling as the service fee rises from $5 to $8, registration fees increase by $5, and title fees go up by $3 with additional county charges up to $5—this change aims to fund the Ohio State Highway Patrol amid its budget crisis.  WFIN
