COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Hancock Park District announced a busy August schedule with educational and entertaining events. One event will highlight animals along the Blanchard River on August 14 as Michelle Rumschlag discussed on The Big Kahuna of 106.3 The Fox.  WFIN

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn, DoorDash, and nine local entrepreneurs celebrated the graduation of the 2025 Accelerator program at The Baker's Café, where the initiative provided mentorship, workshops, and grant funding to help small businesses build resilience. The program was managed with City Hall and local partners and is expected to support long-term growth for businesses in Findlay and Hancock County.  WFIN

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today marks the 11th anniversary of the groundbreaking at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts — which began the plan to transform the former Central Middle School auditorium into a vibrant hub for arts and entertainment — and it has grown into a venue that hosts national touring acts, Broadway shows and local talent each season.  WFIN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UF College of Education students recently returned from Italy where they studied inclusive practices by visiting schools, taking about 5,000 photos, and joining panel discussions with local educators. Faculty lead Carrie Wysocki earned a teaching award from Unicollege and the group is now writing a book on their lessons—highlighting their hands-on experience with disability support in classrooms.  University of Findlay

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Findlay City Council voted this month to start design and engineering for a downtown recreation area that may feature two miles of walking+running paths, a stage, splash pad, kayak launch and fishing areas. Mayor Muryn said flood mitigation work will break ground by the end of this year while the amenity portion should start in late 2026.  Hometown Stations
  • The Hancock County Commissioners are hosting Town & Country Tuesdays, a program that lets residents speak one-on-one with them at local restaurants and parks in Findlay and Hancock County. The August schedule includes meetings on August 5, 12, 19, and 26 — with venues such as Chic-Fil-A, The Dark Horse, and the county fair — as detailed on the commissioners' website.  WFIN
