COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Findlay will host two Halloween events this October as the 2025 Cops & Kids Findlay Halloween Parade will be held on October 21 at 7 p.m. on South Main Street with a 'Be a Hero, Be a Champion' theme and a citywide trick-or-treat event is planned for October 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. Parade registration opens with early bird entries on Sept. 8 and standard on Oct. 1 (entries close on Oct. 14) (neighbors should follow local safety guidelines).  WFIN
  • The Black Swamp Area Council’s 26th Annual Scouting Golf Classic at Findlay Country Club raised over $90,000 to support local Scouting programs in Northwest and West Central Ohio. Twenty seven foursomes played as sponsors helped fund the event — all proceeds benefit over 3,000 youths and volunteers, and the 27th Classic is scheduled for May 21, 2026.  Hometown Stations

  • Block Communications Inc. sold three broadcast properties, including Your Hometown Stations, to Gray Media—an Atlanta-based company. The sale will go through a federal review that may take 6 to 12 months, and viewers will see no changes during the process.  Hometown Stations

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Ohio’s annual sales tax holiday began Aug. 1 and will run until Aug. 14, letting shoppers buy most items $500 or less without paying sales tax + the offer does not apply to alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana. Many parents, teachers and students are shopping early to get the best deals for back-to-school needs.  NBC4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On August 1, 2025, the Ohio State Highway Patrol urged drivers in Findlay to share the road with school buses as the new school year nears; drivers must stop when buses flash red lights and extend stop arms on narrow roads and follow rules on multi-lane roads. The agency added that school buses receive biannual inspections for safety and encouraged the public to report unsafe driving by calling #677—protecting our students is a shared duty.  Hometown Stations
