EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, students from Friendship City Kawaguchi attended a Findlay Rotary Club meeting at Findlay Country Club to introduce themselves and answer questions—led by Dr. 'Hiro' Kawamura from the University of Findlay and supported by local Japanese and English teachers. Findlay High School students also joined the meeting and plan future visits to Kawaguchi to build stronger ties. WFIN
- ➤ University of Findlay faculty are gearing up for the seventh annual Prime the Pump college prep program, scheduled for August 9‑14, which offers lab experiments and math reviews to prepare first-year students for college. The program also lets students move into their dorms early on August 9 – giving them a head start on campus life. University of Findlay
- ➤ Devin Davis turned his past of drug addiction and prison time into academic success — he is finishing his Associate of Arts with a 4.0 GPA at the Findlay campus this summer and will join December commencement at Owens before earning his bachelor’s in social work from the University of Findlay later this year. - ➤ Findlay’s Hancock Leadership Class of 2026 is inviting local organizations to submit project proposals that address community needs in a hands-on project + the bid process is managed by the Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce following last year’s project that beautified the area around the Allan H. - ➤ Kristy Szkudlarek, the Read for Life Coordinator at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, is recognized by the Ohio Library Council as the recipient of the 2025 Service Excellence Award for her leadership in expanding the literacy program. She will be formally honored during a ceremony on November 19 (at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland). WFIN
