COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation held its 2025 Annual Celebration where it released its 2024 Annual Report—showing that it awarded 940 grants worth $5.5 million last year, has distributed $91.5 million in grants since starting, and received $23.7 million in gifts from 711 donors.  WFIN
  • The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office thanked Ohio Logistics for becoming the Title Sponsor for the 5K Foot Pursuit + In Pursuit of Suicide Awareness, which is scheduled for September 7th. Their sponsorship will boost efforts to raise suicide prevention awareness in the community + support those in need.  WFIN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Findlay students majoring in STEM — including eligible freshmen from Ohio and neighboring states — will receive scholarships starting this fall from a $500,000 fund donated in memory of Austin ‘Dutch’ Knowlton. The Knowlton Foundation will award $100,000 annually from September to August 2030.  University of Findlay

  • The Family Life Center of Auglaize County and Heartbeat of Lima received part of nearly $20 million in grants today from the Ohio Parenting and Pregnancy Program—these funds will help connect expectant parents with education, support and local services.  Hometown Stations
  • After a strong turnout at the last Wood County Plays Volunteer Day, the City of Fostoria is asking for volunteers to help build an inclusive playground—community members are invited to donate their time during upcoming volunteer days for the project.  WFIN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hancock Public Health partnered with FamilyCenter to offer the NEST—Postpartum Support Class for families with new babies yesterday from 10:00 a.m. to Noon—providing safe sleep tips, car seat checks, breastfeeding help, postpartum depression awareness, and peer support.  WFIN
