ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A two-vehicle crash occurred just before noon on Friday at the intersection of Ottawa Road and North West Street in American Township when Bailey Terry's pickup failed to yield, causing his truck to hit a Ford Taurus that veered into a cornfield—James Zerkel was taken to St. Rita's with minor injuries.  Hometown Stations

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ODOT District 1 announced several construction projects that will affect Hancock County roadways. Work includes a diverging diamond interchange on I-75 and County Road 99 (with intermittent lane closures), rest area maintenance on northbound I-75, resurfacing on State Route 12, and intersection improvements on SR 15 and CR 193, with some projects extending into September and all weather permitting.  WFIN
  • Sheriff Michael Cortez released the Hancock County report for July, showing 2,706 incidents closed, 347 traffic stops, 22 OVI investigations, 67 crash investigations, and 46 arrest warrants executed. The report also noted 991 emergency calls, policy reviews, and a new Sheriff’s App expected by mid-October — a sign of ongoing efforts to improve county operations.  WFIN
