COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday afternoon, the Allen County Fair held its first Sensory Day — turning down lights and lowering volume to create a calm, welcoming environment for guests who might be overwhelmed by loud sounds and bright lights. Local agencies provided sensory-friendly rides, games, and a mobile sensory room, and organizers said they plan to make the sensory area a permanent part of the fair next year. Hometown Stations
- ➤ The Hancock County Fair will run from August 26 through September 1 in Findlay at 1017 East Sandusky Street—features include a marching band show on Tuesday at 7 p.m., free admission for Veterans on Wednesday, and a country concert on Saturday with Julia Cole and Kenny Feidler with free gate admission. - ➤ The Kiwanis Club of Findlay contributed $25,000 to the Findlay Family YMCA to help purchase toddler playground equipment for its under-construction Early Learning Center—giving the club naming rights and a role in installation. The club will also install swings at Brucklacher Memorial Park as part of its ongoing commitment to local projects. Hometown Stations
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On August 20th around 7:30 p.m. the Hancock County METRICH Drug Task Force and Special Response Team helped FBI officers search the 100 blocks of Shinkle St and Western Ave and found 500 grams of cocaine, 500 grams of ketamine, 144 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 25.25 grams of MDMA and 129 suspected acid tabs—addresses and suspect details are not released due to the ongoing investigation. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Since 1999, the Hancock Youth Leadership HYL Program has given high school students in Findlay and Hancock County hands-on ways to build leadership and communication skills—creating positive role models for the community. The program now includes students from Arcadia, Arlington, Cory-Rawson, Findlay, Liberty-Benton, McComb, and Van Buren and will continue to prepare future local leaders. WFIN

- ➤ The City of Findlay is preparing a grant application to the OPWC to request $435,000 for a new roundabout at the intersection of Lake Cascades Parkway and Western Avenue—this design will improve traffic flow and solve sight distance issues. WFIN

- ➤ Bridge Home Health & Hospice is hosting Living Through Loss grief support programs at Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital from 6 to 7 p.m. on upcoming Mondays starting August 25, with additional sessions on September 22, October 27, November 24 and December 22; registration is appreciated and sessions are free. - ➤ Hancock Public Health reported a local resident has contracted WestNile Virus—health officials advise using EPA-approved repellent, wearing long sleeves, and removing standing water to reduce mosquito bites. WFIN
