- ➤ Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation has pledged $150,000 to help solve local housing challenges and invites residents to invest in its Community Housing and Interim Housing Program Funds—aiming to boost housing options for neighbors. WFIN
- ➤ The Hancock County Veterans Service Office will host Veterans Day at the Hancock County Fair on August 27th in the Old Millstream building where the first 150 veterans to register between 11 a.m. and noon will receive a lunch voucher and dinner will follow at 5 p.m. — veterans without IDs can stop by with a recorded DD214 to get one and enter for free. - ➤ The Friends of the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library are holding a two-day audiovisual sale in the Younger Room of The Book Cellar, the library’s used book shop. The sale is on Monday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.—shoppers can fill a bag of DVDs, music CDs, or audiobook CDs for $4 to support library programs. WFIN
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ At 4:46 p.m. on August 24, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported a fatal crash at the intersection of US 224 and TR 259 when Justin Eckhart’s motorcycle collided with Mary Taylor’s minivan—Eckhart, who had been in a high-speed pursuit, died at the scene while Taylor and a passenger received treatment for minor injuries. - ➤ Ohio Governor Mike DeWine called on the Ohio Board of Pharmacy to ban all kratom products—both natural and synthetic—as Schedule I drugs, citing over 200 overdose deaths from 2019 to 2024 and rising health risks.
