COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ United Way of Hancock County is recruiting around 40 Impact Team volunteers by Sept. 12 to review grant applications for 2026 funding. Volunteers will attend a training session at the end of September, review 7 to 10 applications in October and meet in mid-November — their work ensures local nonprofits receive the funds needed. WFIN
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ State troopers reported that 23 people died on Ohio roads over Labor Day weekend—six of those deaths were local while nearly 400 drivers were arrested for impaired driving. Hometown Stations
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The City of Findlay Mayor’s Office and Findlay Police Department, with support from Further Bikes and GT Wheels, donated nine refurbished bicycles to Findlay High School while the University of Findlay added four more so the school now has a total of thirteen bikes—aiming to help students with transportation needs. - ➤ City officials announced that road construction will continue through September 5 — with Twp. Rd. 77 closed from Twp. Rd. 80 to Trail 81 for a sewer project, Morrical Blvd. closed from Logan Ave. to Bliss Ave. End for waterline installation, Foxfire Ln. closed from Fox Run Rd. to its cul-de-sac for milling and paving, Carnahan Ave. closed from the Railroad to Tiffin Ave. for paving, Broad Ave. reduced to one lane each way from Trenton Ave. to Melrose Ave. for concrete repairs, and SR 568 maintained with portable traffic lights from Trail 237 to TR 242 for Greenway Trail Phase 3. - ➤ Today, the Ohio Department of Commerce warned residents about a more than 45% rise in imposter scams as criminals use high-pressure tactics to steal money and personal details.
