COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Findlay Police Officer John Schimmoeller's funeral procession moved through Findlay Tuesday after a service at Gateway Church on County Road 9. Community members lined the route and the Findlay Fire Department saluted him — a heartfelt tribute to his 29 years of dedicated service.  WFIN
  • Liberty-Benton Local Schools will host a Homecoming Parade on Sunday, September 21 with food trucks on campus from 4:30 p.m., a lineup starting at 5:15 p.m. and entries due by 5:45 p.m. The parade will kick off at 6:00 p.m. along a route that heads north on County Road 9, turns west on State Route 12 and ends at the northwest access drive — local groups may join by signing up by Thursday, Sept. 18.  WFIN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The state released the Ohio School Report Cards to show how schools perform—Findlay City Schools earned a 3.5-star rating that meets state standards after receiving 4 stars last year. The report cards give parents, caregivers, and educators key details to spot areas for improvement.  WFIN
  • Findlay City Schools celebrated third to fifth graders who earned a perfect score on the Ohio State Test yesterday—school officials commended the students' achievement.  WFIN

HEALTH NEWS

  • At 7 a.m. today, volunteers placed a flag-draped casket in front of the Hancock County Courthouse to honor Marine Gaven Smith and raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention during Suicide Prevention Month—this fourth annual Silent Watch supports free SGB treatment for veterans with PTSD.  Hometown Stations
