BUSINESS NEWS

  • Unverferth Manufacturing Co., Inc. announced on September 30 its purchase of Premier Tillage products, including the innovative Minimizer blade plow that reduces soil disturbance for better water infiltration—and production will move to its Lexington facility to maintain quality support for farmers.  Hometown Stations

CULTURE NEWS

  • Lou Hebert, a longtime news broadcaster, will give his Brown Bag Lecture tomorrow at noon at the Hancock Historical Museum in Findlay—he will explain how oil fields helped grow the area in the late 1880s. Admission is free for museum members and costs $3 for non-members.  WFIN

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Ohio will raise its minimum wage to $11 for non-tipped and $5.50 for tipped workers on Jan. 1, 2026—a2.8% increase from current rates. The change will apply to businesses with annual receipts over $405,000 while smaller employers and young workers follow the federal rate of $7.25.  Hometown Stations
  • After a public meeting in late July, the Allen Economic Development Group is reviewing vision statements from a five-county economic strategy that covers development, land use, financial resource capacity and workforce plus community organizations gave feedback Monday night so the final report will be returned by the end of December.  Hometown Stations

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Findlay announced on September 30th plans to combine its College of Business with its College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences into a new College of Business and Humanities. The new college will be established January 1st and fully integrated by August 1st — Kirby Overton will lead the combined unit.  University of Findlay
  • The University of Findlay’s Buford Center merged with student activities, recreational services, and student organizations and moved to the Alumni Memorial Union ahead of fall semester—its new location now offers improved access to services such as the UF Pantry and leadership programs. This change is expected to boost student engagement and resource sharing across campus.  University of Findlay

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Findlay will offer a bulk trash drop-off from October 25 to November 1 at the Public Works Department, 330 N. Cory St. Residents can drop off bulk items during operating hours—8:00 a.m.—7:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m.—4:00 p.m. on Saturdays, but hazardous materials, commercial tires, concrete, appliances, and electronics will not be accepted.  WFIN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Blanchard Valley Health System and PMBA Architects said that the Wellness Park campus in Findlay won first place—People’s Choice—in the AIA Ohio Design Awards at the AIA Conference in Columbus.  WBVI
