EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Findlay announced today it will combine its College of Business with its College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences into the College of Business and Humanities. The new college will be established January 1 with full integration by August 1 and will be led by Kirby Overton—this move prepares students for a rapidly changing world. WFIN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Ohio State Highway Patrol tells drivers and passengers in Findlay to wear safety belts every time—front-seat drivers must buckle up and children under 15 must be restrained. Troopers have issued over 340,000 citations since 2020 and say that buckling up can help save lives and cut injuries. WFIN
- ➤ Findlay Municipal Court will host the 7th annual DUS Day Clinic on October 16 to help people with driver’s license restrictions resolve their issues and get back on the road legally — walk-ins are welcome though appointments are preferred with the Clerk’s office available at 419-424-7141 for more information. - ➤ Today, Ohio Department of Public Safety Director Andy Wilson toured the STRICT Center at Findlay Fire Department Station 4 to see how the facility trains emergency responders for real-life situations and ensures community safety — City and County leaders discussed ongoing collaboration and plans for future preparedness. - ➤ The Ohio Department of Taxation warned residents about scam text messages that claim a tax refund is approved and direct users to a fake website that copies the department’s official look—ODT said users must not click any links. The department urged taxpayers to visit tax.ohio.gov directly for secure tax information. Hometown Stations
- ➤ Ohio’s fall burning restrictions went into effect on Wednesday to reduce wildfire risks. The state banned open burning from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through November 30th to protect homes and businesses from drought-like and windy conditions. WFIN

- ➤ BVHS announced that longtime community cardiologists Dr. Gerschutz and Dr. Meier will join BVHS Medical Practices effective November 1—adding advanced practice providers Jeremy Clark and Amy Sloan to expand the heart program. The move includes launching the new Heart & Vascular Specialists of Northwest Ohio—Lake Cascades clinic at 1721 Medical Blvd near BVHS to improve patient care. WFIN
