ECONOMY NEWS

  • Ohio will raise the minimum wage for non-tipped employees to $11 an hour and increase tipped workers’ rate to $5.50 on Jan. 1—companies with less than $405,000 in annual gross receipts will continue to pay the federal wage of $7.25. The change follows an inflation-based law passed in 2006.  Hometown Stations
  • Ohio soybean growers are struggling as China has stopped buying U.S. soybeans due to tariffs — lower prices have hurt the market and farmers are seeking new buyers while waiting for federal talks. The Ohio Soybean Association said the drop in sales has made this season very challenging for local growers.  Hometown Stations

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Department of Transportation announced that County Road 99 east of Main Street near the railroad tracks in Findlay will close on Tuesday, October 7 for about five days for railroad crossing repairs and reconstruction — a detour is suggested via Main Street — Bigelow Ave. — Bright Rd. — CR 212 before returning to County Road 99.  WFIN
