COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Findlay Family YMCA will host the grand opening of its new Early Learning Center on November 7. Families can explore the center with guided tours, fall crafts, bounce houses, food and beverage trucks, and interactive games — a new space where children will soon learn and grow.  WFIN
  • Trick-or-treat events are scheduled in several nearby communities with Maumee hosting from 2—4 p.m. on Oct. 19, Adrian holding an event from 4:30—6:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, and additional festivities planned through Nov. 1. Check local listings as times vary by town.  WBVI
  • The American Red Cross of North Central Ohio will honor community members for brave acts at the 2025 Hero Awards of North Central Ohio on October 22 at 12:00 p.m. — the event at Hilton Garden Inn Findlay will also present the first Clara Ayres Award to Pam Oglesbee for her dedicated service.  WFIN

  • On October 9, the Chamber held its 2025 Small Business Awards at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts, where local companies and leaders like Garner Trucking Inc. and Dr. Katie Frederick were honored in several categories—including Emerging Business, Nonprofit Leader, and Customer Service Champion.  WFIN

CULTURE NEWS

  • Autumnfest at Litzenberg Memorial Woods is set for Saturday, October 18 and will open the 1847 McKinnis House with costumed interpreters while horse-drawn hayrides tour the prairie – the event will also include demonstrations by a tinsmith and blacksmith, live farm animal exhibits, music by The Dulcimer Gathering, a children’s craft area, and plein air painting in the Activity Barn.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ODOT said work on the railroad crossing at County Road 99 east of Main Street is taking longer than expected. The crossing, which closed Tuesday, Oct 7 for repairs, will reopen Tuesday, October 14 — drivers should follow the detour route via Main St, Bigelow Ave, Bright Rd and CR 212.  WFIN
