COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Registration for Findlay’s Night to Shine 2026 opens November 1, 2025 and the event will take place on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 6:00–9:00 p.m. at the new Alumni Memorial Union at the University of Findlay. The worldwide prom event for individuals with special needs is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation (hosted by St. Marks, Movement and College First) and requires background checks for buddies and volunteers (18+).  WFIN
  • The United Way of Hancock County has updated its Food Resource Calendar for residents in Findlay and nearby areas — listing daily opportunities at food pantries and other resource centers. The schedule shows food distributions that are open to the public unless other restrictions are noted.  WFIN
  • October 28th was National First Responders Day in Findlay to honor firefighters, police, emergency medical technicians (EMT), paramedics and 911 operators who answer emergencies with risk to their lives, as the City of Findlay thanked them for their service.  WFIN

CULTURE NEWS

  • The University of Findlay’s Concert-Chorale and University Singers will perform the Reist Family Fall Choral Concert on November 2 at 3 p.m. at the Winebrenner TLB Auditorium — the free event will feature John Rutter’s seven-movement piece Feel the Spirit and selections from Les Misérables led by director SeaHwa Jung.  University of Findlay

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Liberty-Benton Local Schools recognized 26 students in Grades 3–12 for earning perfect scores on Spring 2025 state tests and gave special recognition to high achievers such as Ian Billmaier & Jonah Todd along with others who maintained repeated perfect scores. Superintendent Otley said the students represent the top 1% of test-takers.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Findlay has announced that crews will pick up leaves placed in biodegradable (PAPER) bags from November 17 through December 5 and will remove limbs set by the curb on a separate schedule. Residents should follow the guidelines to keep streets safe and prevent storm sewers from clogging.  WFIN
  • Today at 7:00 a.m., Columbia Gas began gas line repairs at the intersection of North Main St. and East/West Bigelow St.—flaggers are directing traffic as signals remain red. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays.  WFIN
  • The Hancock County Veterans Service Office has invited residents and businesses to light buildings green from November 4—11 as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans to honor local veterans. The event, led by county and national groups, will raise awareness of the help available to veterans and their families.  WFIN
