COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On November 6 the University of Findlay held its 20th annual Helping Hands food drive and collected 458171 pounds of food from campus and community groups, beating last year by 192955 pounds. Garner Trucking Inc picked up 78 pallets and delivered them to CHOPIN Hall to aid those in need.  WFIN
  • University of Findlay will host a Veterans Day celebration at 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 11 at the Veterans Honor Wall in the Center for Student Life and College of Business (233 Davis Street) where area residents and the UF community can honor local veterans. The program will include a keynote speech by retired Lt Col William J. Layer and live music by the UF band and Boy Scout Troop 319 presenting the colors, with the event also live-streamed (organized by the Alumni Board of Governors).  WFIN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Findlay part-time faculty Shayna Pothast, who also leads Women in Philanthropy, was named among the winners of the Toledo area 20 Under 40 Award, with the ceremony held on November 3. Her historic achievement as the first female firefighter in her department — a milestone that reflects her commitment to advancing education and public service — highlights her broad leadership work.  University of Findlay

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ODOT crews in Lima inspected 230 trucks in northwest Ohio to ensure they are ready for winter, performing a 1,000-point check—verifying hydraulics, lights and brakes—while reminding motorists to follow the Move Over Law, after plow incidents last winter.
