Students at Chamberlin Hill Elementary in Findlay honored local veterans on Friday during the 28th Annual Veterans Day Program, featuring patriotic performances, a moment of silence, and a catered lunch by The Fern — former Hancock County Veterans Service Office director Nichole Coleman encouraged the children to dream big while the community prepares for a Veterans Day Parade on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Safety Pup was sworn in today by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office—he will help teach local kids about safety—spreading smiles with his high-fives.

Five University of Findlay students received 2025-26 Business Affiliates Scholarships awarding over $40,000 to local students from Hancock County high schools or local employers.

At the Oct. 21 scholarship breakfast, the winners explained how the funds eased their financial burden and supported their studies — a sign of local business leaders investing in UF students.

UF professor Mario Baker was elected to serve on the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy nominating committee and was reappointed to the Ohio OTPTAT Board after being sworn in at a national conference in Washington State.

He also received his second Outstanding Service Award and said he was honored to help shape physical therapy regulation in the state.

Hancock Area Transportation Services will soon let Findlay and Hancock County residents schedule rides through an app plus bus service runs Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. officials say the new system will improve public transit accessibility.
