COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation launched the Aspiring Executive Directors Program—a two-year initiative to prepare nonprofit leaders in the region. Applicants will earn a Nonprofit Management Certificate in the first year and gain hands-on leadership experience in the second year as applications are accepted until December 5.  WFIN
  • Findlay High School is hosting its annual Turkeys for Trojans program to provide Thanksgiving meals for families of FHS and FCS students—donations by cash, check, online or text are accepted until November 21. A staff member with the largest donation total will earn the right to wear a turkey costume all day on November 25.  WFIN
  • Youth for Christ of Northwest Ohio will hold its second annual We Believe in Youth week to support local students by inviting churches and community groups to share notes of hope, prayers, and donations—Shelley Ferguson of Lima City Life Rally Point said kids need a solid safety net to feel supported.  Hometown Stations
  • Findlay is displaying Hometown Hero banners on the west side of Main St. from Center St. heading south and an asterisk (*) marks banners shown for the first time. The display honors local service members and banners not on display now may appear in a future rotation.  WFIN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the Findlay Airport, FDY team members Jonathan and Joshua taught aviation topics including model rockets, airfield maintenance, and fuel quality assurance to high schoolers from the Raise the Bar group. The students asked thoughtful questions and braved cold rain to watch a jet takeoff—showing their eagerness to learn.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City of Findlay is working on several road construction projects—restrictions began November 10th and will continue until further notice. West Crawford Street is closed to all traffic today for sewer installation—the Engineering Department will provide schedule updates.  WFIN
  • The City of Findlay will pick up leaves from November 17 through December 5 if they are placed in biodegradable paper bags at the curb, while plastic bags and loose leaves will not be collected. City crews will also pick up limbs placed beside the bagged leaves—no specific schedule is given for each location.  WFIN
