COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Ralph D. Cole American Legion Post 3 in Findlay donated over $17,000 to local charities, bringing its total yearly giving to more than $50,000. The Post, which has supported veterans, youth programs and other community initiatives for over 100 years, also serves lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.—with proceeds funding its charitable efforts.  WFIN
  • Children’s Museum of Findlay has announced its new location at 11600 CR 99 as board members, donors and community champions helped secure the space—officials say play exhibits will be revived soon.  WFIN
  • Superior Credit Union donated $25,000 to the West Ohio Food Bank Wednesday to help families facing food insecurity as SNAP benefits are delayed by the government shutdown — the food bank registered over 100 new households earlier this week and expects an increased need with the upcoming holidays. EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Findlay will host a lecture on cryptocurrency as part of the Fridays at Findlay series on November 21 at the Winebrenner Building—Andrew Burchwell from the Ohio Blockchain Council will explain how cryptocurrencies work, covering their origins, use, security and future during a Q&A session from 7:50 to 9 a.m. Registration is open online until Nov 19 with fees of $12 for adults and $6 for students and a breakfast buffet available at 7:30 a.m.  WFIN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Chloe Hattery, a pre-PA student at Ohio Northern University, joined the Golden Apple Volunteer Program at Blanchard Valley Hospital to gain hands-on experience by engaging with older adult patients and building her patient communication skills. The program offers students valuable practical experience supporting patient care (helping patients feel safe and understood).  WFIN

  • Former Findlay High School Boys Basketball coach Jim Rucki has been nominated for the Morgan Wootten Lifetime Achievement Award. He finished his career in 2024 with 545 wins—including 385 wins at Findlay High—and never had a losing season.  WFIN
