COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Flag City Honor Flight flew four missions in 2025 to take area Veterans to Washington D.C. and will offer three flights in 2026 once dates are announced—incoming president Will Miller said the free trips rely on community donations and flight sponsorships.  WFIN
  • Coats for Christmas is collecting gently used winter coats from drop-off sites including the new City Apparel at 116 E. Main Cross Street and local schools from November 12th until November 26th for anyone in need. Cleaned coats—and donations of gloves, hats, blankets, and socks—will be set up for distribution at East Branch YMCA on December 6th and December 7th, and volunteers are invited to help.  WFIN

BUSINESS NEWS

  • University of Findlay alum Megan Modesitt Espinda ’17 won Indiana Farm Bureau’s Excellence in Agriculture Award on November 13th—she will receive $8,000 from Farm Credit Mid-America, $3,000 from Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance and an all-expenses-paid trip to Anaheim for the 2026 convention—and now serves as the agricultural liaison for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.  University of Findlay

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Ohio State University expert Greg LaBarge provided new Ohio crop budgets for the 2026 season to help farmers handle lower commodity prices and higher input costs. The budgets list top cost items for corn (seed, nitrogen, hauling, phosphorus, herbicide) and soybeans (seed, herbicide, phosphorus, potassium) while performance trials show yield differences of up to 60 bushels per acre in corn and 30 in soybeans.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Marion Township Trustees have announced that loose leaf pick-up will begin in residential areas on Monday, November 17—bagged leaves and leaves placed more than three feet from the curb will not be collected as crews make only one pass.  WFIN
  • ODOT, OSHP, and OTSO are urging drivers in Findlay to drive safely this holiday season to help Ohio continue its decline in traffic fatalities—current data shows 976 deaths so far in 2025 compared to 1,029 at the same time last year. The agencies plan to increase enforcement and run safety campaigns focusing on distraction, impairment, speeding, and failure to wear seat belts as the holiday travel season continues.  WFIN

  • The high school football playoffs continue today with Liberty-Benton (12-0) playing at Liberty Center (11-0) at 7 p.m. on 100.5 WKXA and Pandora-Gilboa (9-3) playing at Leipsic (10-1) at 7 p.m. on 106.3 The Fox. Earlier today, the Findlay Trojans lost to Huber Heights Wayne, ending their season at 6-5.  WFIN
