- ➤ The Hancock County Veterans Service Office and American Red Cross will host a free Holiday Breakfast for veterans and families on Saturday, December 6th from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Findlay Elks Banquet Hall (900 W. Melrose Ave), featuring a breakfast from Moore than Just BBQ, free fire alarm installation sign-ups, and resource information with a special gift for the first 110 veterans. Attendees can connect with staff to learn more about local benefits and support services. WFIN
- ➤ The City of Findlay will light the 25-foot Blue Spruce in Dorney Plaza on November 28th at 6:00 PM to start the holiday season with music from Findlay First Edition and Voices 5—Winterfest will feature a market, a performance by the Findlay Children’s Choir, and later, Santa Claus will lead families to the Kiwanis Santa’s House for treats and horse-drawn wagon rides downtown. - ➤ On November 20, the Community Foundation marked Madeleine Schneider’s birthday — she was born in Findlay in 1914 and left her entire estate of $25 million to fund local grants, making it the largest unrestricted gift in our history with over $21.5 million awarded; her legacy continues to grow by shaping lasting community support. - ➤ A Spencerville fifth grader named Jack Waggamon started Bearcats Care Closet two years ago to supply students with hygiene items, clothing, and food. This Thanksgiving, he and two friends will pack meal boxes for families facing rising costs—using donations, fundraisers, and earnings from selling his fair chickens. Hometown Stations
- ➤ Hancock County Veterans Service Office has brought back Salute-A-Veteran for the Holidays to help local veterans, their families, and surviving spouses get extra holiday cheer.
