COMMUNITY NEWS

  • United Way of Hancock County is seeking volunteer tax preparers and greeters for its free service called VITA — the program, which has previously helped file nearly 1,100 tax returns at Findlay-Hancock County Public Library and 50 North, will expand for the 2026 tax season. Volunteers can choose flexible shifts with online training or in-person sessions starting Feb. 2 — no experience is needed.  WFIN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Findlay City Schools raised $13,679.60 through its Turkeys For Trojans outreach, providing full Thanksgiving meals to over 100 families—community partners like Great Scot Community Markets and Taylor Automotive Family also supported the event.  WFIN
  • University of Findlay will kick off the Oiler Season of Giving on December 2 when alumni, community members and staff are invited to support scholarships, athletics and campus resources—donations will help over 700 student-athletes and enhance financial aid for all students.  WFIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Precia Stuby, a longtime community advocate, announced her retirement as executive director of Hancock County ADAMHS effective March 6 - she served for 28 years and helped secure about $20 million in funding for addiction and mental health programs. Board leaders praised her dedication and innovative work in forming partnerships that improved care for local residents.  WFIN
  • AAA expected nearly 82 million people to travel by car this Thanksgiving, and Ohio transportation officials said drivers faced heavy traffic yesterday with more delays expected on Sunday. The state will remove work zones to ease congestion — officials urged everyone to buckle up, obey speed limits, and avoid distractions.  Hometown Stations
