At Primrose Retirement Community, 95-year-old Joyce Wilson has crocheted over 100 winter hats (and scarves) for those at Hope House, continuing her long tradition of handmade care for the homeless.

Her work shows how local residents use their skills to give back.

United Way of Hancock County is seeking volunteer tax preparers and greeters for its free VITA program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) at the Public Library and 50 North, which is expected to return over $1 million to local residents.
