COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Findlay firefighters helped local children shop for Christmas gifts at Walmart on Tiffin Avenue to brighten holiday spirits. In partnership with Findlay Hope House & Millstream Area Credit Union volunteers, the event collected donations of $3,000, $1,000, and funds from fire stations for gift baskets. WFIN
- ➤ Shawnee High School organized a drive that collected over 2,000 food and hygiene items since after Thanksgiving and benefited more than 50 local families in Shawnee Township — the school plans to make it an annual event. Hometown Stations
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Findlay’s College of Education earned a Fully Aligned designation on Dec. 19 (its highest rating) after ODHE conducted a Science of Reading audit to review its teacher preparation programs. Faculty noted the review confirmed strong literacy standards. University of Findlay
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ BVHS celebrated its one-year anniversary at the 75,000 sqft Wellness Park near I-75, which hosted over 55,000 patient visits in its first year. The system will add more providers in 2026 & continue expanding access to care for locals. WFIN
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Former Trojan football players Sam Weihrauch and Luke Montgomery earned D2 and D1 Second Team All-American honors; their achievements highlight the lasting strength of the local Trojan program. WFIN
- ➤ Tyler Johns was named head football coach at the University of Findlay, officials announced on Dec. 19 — he will be introduced Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gardner Football Complex and again at 7:00 p.m. during the men’s basketball game. WFIN
